Born and raised in Northern California, I spent over a third of my life in corporate America after earning a business degree from San Francisco State University. Stock broker, real estate sales elevating my earning power and not my creative power. Taking a free fall brought on by a divorce and reassessment of my wants and desires, I moved to Los Angeles not really knowing what I wanted to pursue. After a few interviews with placement firms, I tried my hand at commercial modeling where the star is the product and I kinda liked that. After a series of assignments, I landed my first commercial and dug that even more. I loved the creative side of film and television. The only draw back was I didn’t know how to act. After a few marginal acting classes, I started reading books on acting. I read literally over a hundred books on acting and the lives of actors I admired. I read Sanford Meisner’s book on acting and knew that’s how I felt great actors approached acting. I was lucky enough to audition for Sandy twice before he eventually retired. The first year I was turned down. He thought I wouldn’t turn down the money I was making as a model. Not the case. Second year I was accepted to study the Meisner Technique of Acting from Sanford Meisner. That was the beginning of a torturous two years, not because of the training. It was because for all my will I wasn’t free enough emotionally to let the training take hold. I fought my way into Playhouse West by literally showing up every week at the audit class and asking Bob Carnegie if I could join the school. Four years later, I started my own theater company with Mike Homeir called The Vagabond Players and ran for over 4 years and 20 productions. I think it is still running in one form or another to this day. During that time I fell in love with writing and began writing plays and short stories. I also became the managing director which worked the technical side of the productions. That’s when I started planning my entry into filmmaking. With the advent of digital camera’s and off line editing, the barriers of entry were crumbling. I shot my first short film over 5 years ago and have been shooting ever since. With my partners, Jacee Jule and Patrika Darbo, we incorporated PKS Entertainment, LLC. last year and have covered over 60 Red Carpet events, shot two short films, two music videos and have shot the last two films for Damian Chapa, Vampiros and Ladron. Additionally, we have been shooting a series of charity spots for Gloria Kisel-Hollis called Charities From The Heart. These are designed to highlight the philanthropic endeavors of celebrities. We are also currently working on two more feature length films that will be going into production early next year.
